The new man of our lives. His name is Ewan 翼涵 Yi(4) Han(2), he arrived 2 days before term (36+5 weeks) on 25th February 2012, at 2056hr via a super-natural birth yet again. This time round, it was so quick the obstetrician & nurses didn’t believe he was coming out! Mama had to tell them “baby is coming” a few times before they got ready in a jiffy. All in, from the time Mama needed to push to when Ewan came out screaming (yes, screaming), Papa counted 16 minutes. No painkillers, no screaming from Mama. The way childbirth was intended to be. Beautiful.
Ewan (pronounced eU-uhn, like Ewan McGregor!) means youth, and it also means God is gracious. As most of you should know by now, Papa & Mama think the Chinese name is very important & meaningful. So out came the thick dictionary once again, & for months we pondered & debated over various characters. Finally, we settled on 翼涵. 翼 literally means wings, & we hope this boy will soar on wings. 涵 is to signify our wish that he would grow up to be a man of character & wisdom.
Mama & baby Ewan are doing well. It’s been a harrowing journey for the past 5 weeks, being in & out of the hospitals & clinics. But all’s calmer now. And we are thankful for all the prayers & concerns.
Alot of people have also asked us how Xinlei is coping with a new baby brother. Exceptionally well, i must say. She showers him with kisses & hugs & demands to carry him. She also alerts us immediately when he cries so that attention is rendered. She’s such a sweet sister! Papa & Mama are blessed to have 2 beautiful & perfect babies.
And so we journey on… with our 2 little matchsticks.

All the worries of the 4 weeks prior to his arrival ablated by his fierce scream
